Sample Calculation

WHAT ELSE

CAN BE SEEN?

Using the PTAL method as a base, and adding a number of factors as, the resulting indicator and local factors that would be used for calculating accessibility in the study area are as follows:

adjusting the maximum walking time to 12 minutes and distance to 960m

using a reliability factor of 2 for MyCiTi services

using a service congestion factor of 1 and thus the full service frequency as the average waiting time to account for often congested conditions

adding a safety factor of 0 to the walking time (thus not adding anything) to account for the area’s safe routes

adding a disability factor of 0 to walking time (thus not adding anything) to account for good disabled access

revising the accessibility index range, where 15.01 and higher accounts for an excellent accessibility level
